The best trip of my life (so far) was the summer of 2023, when I returned to the Philippines after six years. Finally reuniting with my family—my cousins, aunts, and uncles—was heartwarming, even if three weeks felt way too short to catch up. The joy of seeing everyone again and spending time together made every moment feel like home, even halfway around the world.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was experiencing my family’s love language: food. Each day, I was treated to a variety of dishes prepared with love, showcasing flavors I had missed for so long. From classic Filipino meals to new and unexpected flavors, every meal felt like a family gathering. A particularly memorable experience was trying snake for the first time!
Exploring the Philippines was equally unforgettable. I was able to visit different islands, and even got to visit the famous Taal Volcano. However, the heat was something else; Since the Philippines is close to the equator, we endured intense heat waves, which was both a challenge and an experience.

Transportation in the Philippines added an extra layer of adventure. Riding in Jeepneys, navigating the roads in Tricycles, and traveling between cities by boat allowed me to appreciate how people move around this vibrant country.
Although I don’t get to visit often, the trip reminded me of the importance of family and cultural connection. I’m already looking forward to returning in 2026 for my cousin’s wedding, which will be my first destination wedding. There’s just something about these family reunions, and I can’t wait to make more memories with the people I love.
